Lutz Giebel, PhD - Managing Partner

Summary:
Dr. Lutz Giebel joined SVLS as a Venture Partner in 2001 and is based in San Francisco. Prior to this he was a Managing Partner of Didyma, LLC, a biotechnology management consulting firm.

Prior Experience:
Lutz was Founder, President and CEO of CyThera Inc., Founder and Chief Operating Officer of ExSAR and was Founder and Vice President of Research of MetaXen, LLC, now part of Exelixis. He joined Arris Pharmaceutical, now part of Celera, as the first biologist and subsequently held various management positions, including Senior Director of Molecular Biology.

Qualifications:
Lutz received his PhD in Molecular Biology at the University of Heidelberg, Germany and did his Post Doctoral studies in Human Genetics at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
